Terms of use — free tool
Last updated: 2026-05-18
UK ETA Transit Checker ("the Service", "we") is a free, single-page informational tool that helps travellers check whether they likely need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for a planned trip or transit.
No account, no payment, no subscription
The Service is provided free of charge. You do not need to register, sign in, pay any fee, or accept a subscription. There is nothing to cancel.
Informational only — not legal or immigration advice
The verdict, fee estimate, validity window, and rule citations are derived from a static snapshot of UK Home Office guidance, the GOV.UK ETA factsheet (April 2026), and related primary sources. This is not legal advice and not immigration advice. The UK Home Office can change ETA rules, fees, eligibility dates, and the airside-transit exemption at any time. Always verify on GOV.UK — Check when you can get an ETA before booking flights or boarding.
We are not affiliated with the UK Home Office, the UK Government, GOV.UK, or any airline or airport.
Affiliate links and disclosure
Some outbound links on the result panel (for example to travel insurance or eSIM providers) earn us a commission if you make a purchase. They are marked "Sponsored" before the click, in line with US FTC 16 CFR § 255 and EU Directive 2005/29/EC (Unfair Commercial Practices). The commission has no effect on the verdict the tool gives you — the verdict is a pure function of your inputs and the official rules — and you can always apply for the ETA directly on GOV.UK at the official price (currently £20).
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to break the law or someone else's rights;
- attempt to reverse engineer, scrape at abusive rates, or disrupt the Service or its hosting; or
- present output from the Service as legal or immigration advice to someone else without making clear it is an informational estimate.
As-is and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service — including, without limitation, missed flights, denied boarding, refused entry, or any travel cost incurred because you relied on the tool instead of GOV.UK. Verify on GOV.UK before you travel.
Changes
We may update these terms when the underlying ETA rules change or when we add features. Material changes will be visible on this page; the "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's country of residence. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless an applicable consumer-protection statute in your country of habitual residence gives you a non-waivable right to a different forum.
